The Experiential Learning Summer Lab on Organic Cookingis designed to acquaint children with organic foods along with the skill of cooking healthy and presentable food. The program is designed around hands-on cooking sessions, and field visits to an organic farm culminating with a choreographed cooking show created by the learners.

Learning Objectives:

   • Cooking Skills: Basic Food Centric skills
   • Organic Food: Myths and Realities, the science and technology behind growing and using it
   • Stage presence and food presentation through the cooking show, hosted after learning the dishes
   • Technical skills: Creating cooking videos

Program Activities

  • Organic World’ – Introduction to Organic Food Ingredients by organic farmers and promoters. Myths and realities and the future of Organic Foods.
  • Me – the Chef’–Introduction to basic cooking techniques as well as precautions while cooking and use of equipment.
  • Cooking Day 1’ –Provided with the necessary resources to engage in a live cooking session, the learners make their first dish, facilitated by the Chef. They will also learn hygiene and presentation etiquette.
  • Cooking Day 2’ – More recipes, more fun, more learning.
  • My Farm Day’ – A field visit to an organic farm and interactive session with the specialist who will discuss organic foodand healthy living.
  • My Reality Show’– Dedicated to creating 2-3 min long video episodesof their own cooking show, assisted by a media team.

Duration:

3 hours / day x 5 days

The program is being organized at the Experience Lab situated at the office of Institute of Experiential Learning, Infantry Road Bangalore.

Participants will receive a Certificate from Institute of Experiential Learning and a Redeemable Voucher for future Experiential Learning Programs.
